Stirr Sydney – Half Baked

So the first Stirr Mixer outside of the Valley went off with a bang last night. Great people, lots of fun and well worth it.

Some highlights from me…

Half-Baked

Everyone got into it. Big thanks to the captains – Alisdair, Oliver, Alan, Mike, Emily and Omar and Rhandy. Big winners were Shoewave.com where you combine all the spare socks around the world to make full pairs. $1+1 sock = A pair. Invest anyone?

Boom or Bust – brought to you by Symbiation.

Pin the tail on the exit. I got “my angels are demons” but a lot of people nailed millions if not billions.

Someone trying their luck at Boom or Bust – pin your startup on the exit board.

Four Fast Pitches

Remember the Milk, Quotify, Student Face and Blue Pulse all pitched for one minute and then gave demos to try and earn the audiences hard earned $1 million VC dollars. Remember the Milk stole the show, pulling in $45 Million VC Dollars and won a great prize from Microsoft – a $5,000 MSDN Subscription. Thanks Frank!! You rock.

Drinking the Kool-Aid

Neo Ventures sponsored 10 jugs of kool-aid. Mild cocktails of commitment, alcohol and bitterness. Very well received.

Elevator Pitch In the Elevator

Cameron Reilly from TPN got Chris Saad from Touchstone pitching to Mike Zimmerman between ground floor, second floor and back. Classic.

Otherwise just a great night. Good food, lots of good conversations, which is what Tangler loves to see.

Big thanks to the sponsors. TVP, Neo, Atlassian and Tanglers annual marketing budget.

Big, big thanks for those who helped out. Deecrazy, Karen, The Sybmiation gang, Craig, Phong, Erik, Minh, Rhandy.

And thanks to everyone for turning up and making it a great night.

More pictures here. Big thanks to Karen for taking great pics.
Cheers

Mick

P.S. Who’s running the next one??

[...] Joel Pobar was lucky enough to go to STIRR in Sydney (Web 2.0ish event). These kinds of social gatherings are a great idea I think for people that have ideas, and people who have cash to get together and start something. Some others have posted a event wrap-up. [...]
